Those changes make sense, I agree.

What do you mean by "self intersection"? Is this related to the polygon?
Personally, I would not expect self intersection within the polygon.
But I don't think the polygon should be forced to be convex.

I think the most intuitive and winding rule would be ccw w.r.t. normal (right hand rule).

Duplicate entries make no sense, but is it necessary to explicitly mention this here?
